The war on Drugs is really a war on people and not drugs. Second, the war on drugs is an employment machine.

Most of my clients are either Hispanic or a person of color. Once you get that criminal record of a drug dealer or drug user it is very difficult to get a job. Every job from McDonalds to the highest paying jobs does a criminal back ground check.

If you have a ding on your criminal record you will be hard press to get employed. Employers cut people off with even the slightest record. Drugs and alcohol are the most crimes that get incarcerated.

The second problem which makes it harder to stop the War on People is it employs thousands of people form security officer at the prison, courthouse security personal, court employees, lawyers, law enforcement are the biggest employers form the FBI, DEA, State cops, and to local police. Nobody wants to give up the case cow incarcerating people because of drugs use or selling drugs.

Jails should be for violent offenders like rapist, murders, and manslaughters, B&E at homes and business, home invasions criminals. Pot should be decriminalized and all other drugs dealers and users should have treatment and home confinement with windows to work.
